Job Description:

A specialist SEN school in Southwark is seeking a caring and proactive Autism Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. This full-time role involves supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated learning, communication, and social challenges.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of neurodivergent young people and who is looking for a long-term position with potential to become permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to students with autism

  • Support students with communication, routine, and emotional regulation

  • Use strategies and tools such as PECs, Makaton, and visual timetables

  • Help deliver structured activities that promote independence and engagement

  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCo, and therapists to meet EHCP targets

  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and positive classroom environment

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with autism in educational, care, or community settings

  • Understanding of ASC, sensory needs, and communication difficulties

  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
