SANZA are currently recruiting for a wonderful special needs school in Barking & Dagenham. The school caters to students aged 2- 18 years. It is a wonderful place to work, where children and staff are one big community!
They are seeking special needs teaching assistants who can begin immediately and who can commit long-term.
As a teaching assistant working with special needs, you will need to be able to:
- Stay calm when dealing with challenging situations
- Use clear and simple instructions
- Validate the child's feelings without judgement
- Use calming tools and resources
- Work well in a team environment
About you:
- Experience working with children, ideally those with special educational needs
- Understanding of different types of special educational needs
- Experience with specialist communication methods (e.g. Makaton, PECS, BSL, AAC devices) is desirable
- Willingness to assist with personal care needs where required (feeding, toileting, mobility assistance).
