Homeless Hostel Support Worker Location: Westminster Assignment length: until March 31st 2024 (with potential extension) Pay: £14.40 plus holiday pay = £16.14 per hour or £19.00 per hour via umbrella company Weekly Pay Hours of work: 9am to 5pm with some flexibility. Monday to Friday. Service Overview:Size of hotel - 16-bed project, housing rough sleepers with multiple needs e.g. substance use, mental health, physical health etc. There are 4 floors with no lift so person must not have mobility issues / will need to be able to get up and down the stairs safely. There is an office room, and a keywork room (ground floor and basement level). Responsibilities:

  • Key-working and case management for a caseload of 5.
  • Leading on the day to day running, doing the handover, keeping on top of the diary, doing room checks, liaising around peoples move on plans
  • Providing individualised support and guidance to residents, addressing their specific needs and challenges.
  • supporting the caseworkers who will be dipping in and out of the hotel, some support work like could be UC claims, or housing referrals or linking people in with substance use services.
  • Keeping on top of some of the in reach.
  • Be able to operate the case management system INFORM
  • Facilitating group activities and workshops within the communal spaces.
  • Conducting regular check-ins and assessments to monitor progress and ensure the well-being of residents.
  • Collaborating with external agencies and resources to offer comprehensive support services.
  • Signposting clients to relevant programs and resources for their personal development and empowerment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Strong understanding and sensitivity to issues related to substance misuse, mental health, and criminal justice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • A passion for supporting individuals on their journey towards independence and self-sufficiency.
