Waking Night Support Worker - Children's Residential Home Location: Whitechapel, London Salary: 13.15 - 13.80 per hour Shifts: 7:40pm - 8:00am Pattern: Week 1 - 4 nights / Week 2 - 3 nights (every other weekend off) Bonus: Employee bonus scheme after 12 months' service - paid twice yearly, worth potentially thousands of pounds depending on length of service About the Role We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Waking Night Support Workers to join our children's residential home in Whitechapel. You'll be part of a caring and committed team that supports young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), ensuring they feel safe, supported, and valued throughout the night. As a Waking Night Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a calm and secure environment, responding to the needs of the young people, and helping to promote their emotional well-being and independence. What You'll Be Doing

  • Ensure the safety, security, and welfare of young people during the night.
  • Provide emotional reassurance and practical support as needed.
  • Carry out regular checks and maintain detailed nightly records.
  • Follow individual care plans and safeguarding procedures.
  • Support with morning routines and handovers to day staff.
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and homely environment.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people (residential, education, or similar setting desirable).
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Flexibility to work a rolling 2-week night shift pattern.
