A top client of mine in the South East seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Temporary Accommodation and Homeless Services to lead a high-performing team within a forward-thinking local authority in the South East of England.This pivotal role is responsible for the operational and strategic oversight of homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation provision, and housing solutions. You will be leading service improvements, managing demand pressures, and ensuring legal compliance and safeguarding responsibilities are met in full.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership for temporary accommodation and homelessness services.
  • Lead and manage teams delivering front-line housing advice, placements, and support.
  • Develop and implement policies to reduce homelessness and improve outcomes for vulnerable residents.
  • Oversee the procurement and management of temporary accommodation, ensuring value for money and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively across internal departments and with external partners including housing providers, health services, and the voluntary sector.
  • Monitor budgets, performance targets, and statutory obligations including the Homelessness Reduction Act.
  • Drive innovation and transformation to reduce use of temporary accommodation and improve service sustainability.
About You:
  • Proven leadership experience in a senior housing or homelessness service role, ideally within a local authority setting.
  • Strong understanding of housing legislation, homelessness duties, and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads, budgets, and performance frameworks.
  • Skilled at building partnerships and influencing at all levels.
