Adults MASH Safeguarding Social Worker

London Borough Hammersmith and Fulham

Up to £35 per hour

Are you a dedicated and experienced Social Worker passionate about adult safeguarding? Hammersmith and Fulham Council is seeking a Safeguarding Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team. In this role, you will be a central point for safeguarding concerns, utilizing your expertise to protect vulnerable adults in our community.

Key responsibilities:

  • Triaging safeguarding referrals and deciding whether to progress to a Section 42 enquiry.
  • Undertaking information gathering to assess and intervene in urgent situations.
  • Taking immediate action to minimize risk and providing expert advice to residents, carers, colleagues, and partners.
  • Assisting individuals, carers, and families in developing support plans and explaining the use of Personal Budgets and Direct Payments.
  • Considering NHS Continuing Healthcare for individuals with health care needs and making timely referrals.
  • Managing a professional caseload and making confident judgments about risk and accountability.
  • Maintaining clear, up-to-date case records on the case management system.
  • The MASH team operates from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. You will be supported with mobile IT equipment and hot-desking facilities to enable flexible working.

You must have:

  • A recognized Social Work qualification (e.g., DipSW, BA Hons Social Work).
  • Significant post-qualification experience (generally 3 years) working as a qualified social worker in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Experience in undertaking safeguarding enquiries, mental capacity assessments, and best interest decisions.
  • An in-depth knowledge of relevant national and local policy, statutory guidance, and legislation, particularly the Care Act 2014.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain professional reasoning clearly.
