Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) - Hackney Council

Hackney Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our dynamic Mental Health Service on a locum basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a diverse and vibrant borough, working alongside a supportive and multidisciplinary team. A vital role in meeting our Local Authority responsibilities under the Mental Health Act.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake statutory AMHP duties under the Mental Health Act 1983
  • Complete assessments and coordinate interventions for individuals experiencing mental health crises
  • Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and partner agencies
  • Ensure legal and ethical compliance in all decision-making and documentation
  • Work with the AMHP service setting up assessments, attending court for warrants and carrying out mental health act assessments in the hospital and in the community.

Requirements:

  • Qualified SWE Social Worker
  • Registered AMHP
  • Proven experience in mental health services, ideally within a local authority setting
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act and related legislation
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills
