SANZA Teaching is working with an alternative school, seeking the right person for a meaningful behaviour mentor position in Lambeth: working with 15-16 year old boys facing social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) challenges - providing 95-110 per day according to qualifications and experience.

We're recruiting a committed behaviour mentor for this alternative provision facility helping students who benefit from positive role models.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BEHAVIOUR MENTOR

  • Assist SEMH pupils with ADHD and/or mild ASD, working in class sizes of 8 teenagers
  • Serve as a youth mentor and TA with KS4 boys in a setting similar to a PRU
  • Deliver educational guidance and support youth engagement in class - thikning outside the box is always great!
  • Establish meaningful connections as a behaviour mentor while providing TA assistance
  • Find points of similarity - these students enjoy football, are active, outgoing and energetic! They require strong mentors who may have a background in social care, education and training or youth support to connect, engage and inspire!
  • Contribute as an team member to this alternative provision school in Lambeth where your expertise will create significant impact

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

We seek a determined youth mentor and TA with authentic dedication to helping young people with SEMH requirements, including those with ASC, ADHD, ASD - The right attitude is imperative - so do not hesitate to apply if you feel you have what it takes!

Key background and attributes:

  • Background as a TA, youth mentor or in social work, especially in alternative provision or PRU contexts
  • Comprehensive knowledge of social, emotional, mental health difficulties including ADHD affecting young people needing youth support
  • Strong behaviour management abilities appropriate for SEMH students with varied requirements
  • Resilient and caring when supporting challenging pupils
  • Preferably experienced in SEN or SEMH environments, social work, or as a TA in alternative provision
  • Team Teach certification highly valuable for this position
