Head of Partnerships and Development

Location: Flexible / Hybrid

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Hours: 35 hours per week (full-time)

Our client is a registered local charity that has been supporting voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups in Ealing for over 30 years and Hounslow groups since 2012.  

The Role

The Head of Partnerships and Development will lead the organisation's work in partnership building, consortia development, fundraising, volunteering, and infrastructure support across Ealing and Hounslow. This strategic role will oversee the Volunteer Centre, manage the organisation’s infrastructure support services, and coordinate the delivery of the Voice Networks. The postholder will lead collaborative fundraising and sponsorship initiatives and will line manage the Volunteer Manager and the Funding & Group Development Manager to ensure joined-up delivery across volunteering, capacity building, and community development.  

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnerships and Consortia

  • Lead their approach to building and sustaining partnerships across the voluntary, statutory, health, and corporate sectors.
  • Develop and coordinate consortia that deliver joint programmes and attract collaborative funding.
  • Represent them in strategic forums, influencing local policy and system change.  

Oversight of the Volunteer Centre and Volunteering Infrastructure

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Volunteer Centre 
  • Secure funding and sponsorship to strengthen and sustain the volunteering infrastructure.
  • Promote inclusive, impactful volunteering opportunities that contribute to health, wellbeing, and community resilience.
  • Line manages the Volunteer Manager to ensure high-quality delivery and development.

Infrastructure Support Services

  • Lead their infrastructure support offer, including training, governance, funding advice, and organisational development.
  • Develop partnerships and collaborative funding opportunities to expand support for voluntary and community groups.
  • Ensure services are responsive, sector-led, and strategically aligned.
  • Line manages the Funding and Group Development Manager to support strong VCS delivery across the boroughs.

  Voice Networks Leadership

  • Manage and coordinate their Voice Networks 
  • Ensure networks influence local policy, provide a platform for underrepresented voices, and generate sector insight.
  • Integrate Voice Network learning into the strategic direction and programme design.  

Fundraising and Corporate Sponsorship

  • Identify and pursue new income streams, including grant funding and corporate sponsorship, to support volunteering, infrastructure, and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead collaborative funding bids with external partners and within consortia.
  • Build long-term relationships with funders, sponsors, and donors to support organisational sustainability.

Team Leadership  

  • Provide supportive and empowering line management to the Volunteer Manager and the Funding & Group Development Manager.
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive team culture that aligns with their values.
  • Support professional development and cross-team collaboration.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

  • Oversee evaluation frameworks across volunteering, infrastructure, and partnerships.
  • Produce reports, case studies, and impact summaries for funders, trustees, and stakeholders.
  • Promote continuous learning and improvement across the teams.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Proven ability to lead or oversee volunteering and/or infrastructure support services.
  • Successful track record in fundraising, sponsorship, or developing collaborative bids.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills, including line management experience.
  • Deep understanding of the voluntary and community sector, particularly in diverse, urban communities.
