We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for the role of Probation Service Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an Approved Premises environment, supporting residents who have recently been released from custody. The post holder will play a key role in the supervision, risk management, and rehabilitation of high-risk individuals in the community.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct induction sessions with residents upon their arrival, ensuring they understand the rules, expectations, licence conditions, and support available within the premises.

  • Deliver daily briefings and handovers to encourage resident engagement, promote a pro-social routine, and provide consistent oversight and support.

  • Monitor and support resident's compliance with curfews, attendance at appointments, engagement in activities, and overall conduct during their stay.

  • Undertake and contribute to ongoing risk assessments, identifying safeguarding or public protection concerns and escalating appropriately.

  • Respond to incidents, challenging behaviours, or breaches of rules using dynamic risk assessment and sound judgement to ensure safety and order within the premises.

  • Work in collaboration with the wider Probation Service, Police, Social Services, and other stakeholders to ensure information sharing and cohesive risk management.

  • Maintain accurate records of resident interactions, incidents, and interventions using case management systems, ensuring timely and professional documentation.

  • Apply motivational techniques and role modelling to support residents in moving away from offending behaviour and towards successful reintegration into the community.

Person Specification:

  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and collaborative working in a residential or public safety environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise authority fairly and maintain professional boundaries with vulnerable individuals

  • Experience or understanding of working with people who pose a high risk of harm, particularly in custodial or community settings

  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management principles in high-risk environments

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive when managing challenging behaviour or emergency situations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate report writing and record keeping

  • Pro-social approach to working with offenders, with the ability to positively influence and challenge attitudes and behaviours

  • A valid and current Enhanced DBS check (can be processed by RSR if needed)
