Adecco are recruiting two Social Fund Assessment Officer's to join our Local Authority clients Benefits Service team. This role is vital in supporting vulnerable residents by administering discretionary financial support and essential household items.

  • Social Fund Assessment Officer
  • Public Sector - Local Authority
  • Temporary Role - 3 months with possible extension
  • Full Time - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
  • Hybrid Working - flexible and days in / out can be confirmed once training complete
  • 16.95 per hour PAYE / 22.35 per hour Umbrella

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer applications to the Discretionary Social Fund scheme, including emergency financial assistance and care grants.
  • Liaise sensitively with applicants to assess needs and determine appropriate support.
  • Make decisions on awards within policy guidelines and budget constraints.
  • Manage orders and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of awarded items.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide excellent customer service via phone and written communication.


Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload independently.
  • Some knowledge of Welfare Benefits and Discretionary Social Funds is desirable.
