Job Title: Youth Justice OfficerLocation:Kessington and Chelsea Pay Rate: £22.36 PAYE | £27.84 UmbrellaAbout the Role:We are seeking an experienced and passionate Youth Justice Officer to join our multi-disciplinary Youth Offending Team. In this vital role, you will work closely with vulnerable children, young people, and their families/carers who come into contact with the youth justice system, helping them to make meaningful and positive changes in their lives.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of young people aged 10-17 subject to statutory Court orders or out-of-court disposals.
  • Supervise interventions in line with National Standards, local policies, and relevant legislation.
  • Write Pre-Sentence Reports, complete out-of-court assessments, and supervise custodial and community-based sentences.
  • Use systemic and evidence-based approaches to work effectively with families and guardians.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies and maintain strong multi-agency relationships in line with GDPR and information-sharing protocols.
  • Operate within the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and other relevant youth justice, criminal, and child care legislation.
About You:
  • Qualified Social Worker, Probation Officer, or holder of a relevant professional qualification.
  • Significant experience in youth justice, including working in Court settings.
  • Strong understanding of youth justice legislation, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in the preparation of reports.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people and families, encouraging positive change.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
Additional Information:This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
