Senior Technical Architect

Role: Senior Technical ArchitectSalary/Rate: up to £745 per day (inside IR35) Location: Hybrid with site visits to Sheffield and London, and national travel as requiredContract Duration: 6-month contract

We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Architect for our government client. This Senior Technical Architect role is hybrid, based between working remotely and regular visits to London and Sheffield offices (approx. 3x per week), as well as occasional national travel as needed.

The contract for the Senior Technical Architect position is for 6-months with potential to extend, operating inside IR35.

Security Clearance: Security Check ("SC Clearance")

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Essential skills/experience required:

• Experience in a technical/solution architecturerole and can act as a recognised technical expert to guide, critique and support teams in the delivery of outcomes
• Experience of architecting digital services
• API development/management
• Programming languages such as TypeScript/Node, Kotlin/Java
• AWS using infrastructure as code such as Terraform - Practical working knowledge of modern cloud-first architectures and how to build applications to take advantage of the opportunities they offer
• Able to identify and mitigate security risks when designing and operating in a public cloud environment
• Container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
• Public GitHub repositories
• Modern development practices i.e. domain-driven design, test-driven development, continuous integration and continuous delivery
• Prometheus, Grafana, AppInsights, GitHub Actions, CircleCI etc
• Great communication skills
• Technical leadership of teams

Role/Responsibilities:

• Work with the Principal Technical Architects to define, maintain and own the technical strategy and roadmap for services of various sizes and complexity, defining how they integrate with other services and teams, and how they evolve over time
• Collaborate and find agreement with senior stakeholders, providing both technical and non-technical direction and challenge
• Guide technical teams, influence technical choices and seek out opportunities for digital transformation
• Undertake structured evaluations of technical concepts, translating this into technical designs that describe a solution
• Look for opportunities to collaborate and reuse common components, communicating with both technical and non-technical people
• Assure other services and system quality, ensuring the technical work fits into the broader strategy
• Align your team's work with the departmental and wider government technology strategy
• Support hiring, taking part in recruitment for both Technical Architects and other professions such as Software Developers
