This is a strategic appointment aimed at driving forward the organisation's cloud platform capability, ensuring robust, scalable and secure services that support critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities - AWS Platform Engineer

  • Design, build, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines for high-availability cloud-based solutions.
  • Manage cloud resources within AWS, ensuring optimal performance, cost-efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with software engineering, architecture and security teams to implement scalable cloud-native solutions.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise platform performance and availability using AWS-native tools and observability platforms.
  • Contribute to platform reliability, automation and DevOps best practices within an Agile environment.

Essential Skills and Experience - AWS Platform Engineer

  • Strong commercial experience designing and supporting production platforms on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Hands-on experience with IaC tools, ideally Terraform (or CloudFormation).
  • Expertise in CI/CD tooling, such as GitLab CI, Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Proficient in scripting or automation (e.g. Python, Bash or PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, ECS, EKS) and microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. CloudWatch, ELK, Prometheus/Grafana).
  • Solid understanding of security best practices and compliance within cloud environments.

Desirable Skills - AWS Platform Engineer

  • AWS certifications (e.g. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect)
  • Previous experience working on large-scale enterprise platforms
  • Exposure to serverless technologies (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway)
