This is a strategic appointment aimed at driving forward the organisation's cloud platform capability, ensuring robust, scalable and secure services that support critical business operations.
Key Responsibilities - AWS Platform Engineer
- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines for high-availability cloud-based solutions.
- Manage cloud resources within AWS, ensuring optimal performance, cost-efficiency and compliance.
- Collaborate with software engineering, architecture and security teams to implement scalable cloud-native solutions.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise platform performance and availability using AWS-native tools and observability platforms.
- Contribute to platform reliability, automation and DevOps best practices within an Agile environment.
Essential Skills and Experience - AWS Platform Engineer
- Strong commercial experience designing and supporting production platforms on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Hands-on experience with IaC tools, ideally Terraform (or CloudFormation).
- Expertise in CI/CD tooling, such as GitLab CI, Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline.
- Proficient in scripting or automation (e.g. Python, Bash or PowerShell).
- Knowledge of containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, ECS, EKS) and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. CloudWatch, ELK, Prometheus/Grafana).
- Solid understanding of security best practices and compliance within cloud environments.
Desirable Skills - AWS Platform Engineer
- AWS certifications (e.g. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect)
- Previous experience working on large-scale enterprise platforms
- Exposure to serverless technologies (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway)
