Senior Platform Engineer / Senior DevOps Engineer/ Platform Engineer / DevOps Engineer / AWS DevOps Engineer

Overview:

Our client are an fast growing FinTech who are passionate that have a real culture of collaboration, trust, positivity and innovation, with a real focus on hiring high quality people. They're going through a significant phase of growth and have recently hired some great people across Platforms, Engineering and Product. They're now looking to add to this by finding a brilliant Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about they do, comfortable and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. Technical skills are important but so are soft skills, as you'll be working closely with the Platform Engineering manager, software engineers and the head of software engineering. You'll have a genuine opportunity to influence and the technical strategy and road map.

Core responsibilities:

  • Lead a migration from Azure to AWS, maintaining all Azure and AWS Architecture and Services. However Azure is nice to have but AWS and EKS is essential.
  • Support security of the platform and infrastructure
  • Operate Container Orchestration Solutions (Kubernetes / EKS)
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines
  • Design, build and manage Infrastructure as Code
  • Work in an agile way following DevOps principles
  • Manage disaster recovery, monitoring and alerting
  • Mentor Platform and Software engineers on best practices

Essential technical skills needed:

  • AWS , particularly managing EKS workload & some experience with Azure as a Cloud Provider would be a big bonus.
  • .net ecosystems but open to considering PHP and/or Python and/or
  • Writing Infrastructure as Code (ideally in Pulumi)
  • Deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes
  • Git / source control
  • Configuration Management systems (such as Ansible or Chef)
  • Communicating the benefits of DevOps practices such as Agile ways of working, theory of constraints, and SLO-based monitoring
  • Working in a fast-scaling business, and embracing the changes and challenges this brings

Nice to have technical skills:

  • Bash and powershell scripting
  • Terraform
  • Provisioning and administrating Windows Servers and VMs
  • Provisioning and managing SQL Server and Azure SQL databases
  • Managing Windows Active Directory
