Systems Engineer, Linux, Windows, AD, Vsphere

Our client, a leading private sector business, is looking to hire a (insert job title above as appropriate) for a DataCentre project.

The successful candidate will have a background working within large scale environments and datacentres, ideally project related e.g. migrations, improvements, restorations etc.

Strong technical understanding of vSphere combined with Unix (Linux) or Windows.

You will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the DC environment - ability to work under pressure is essential. This will include very complex infrastructure related challenges and supporting critical services.

This assignment is required to operate through an Umbrella company and all employer, employee tax and NI will be deducted from the rate.

The assignment will begin onsite and revert to fully remote.

General responsibilities

  • Take ownership of hands-on support and maintenance across vSphere, Linux, Windows estate
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure & middleware operating systems to resolve incidents.
  • Monitor system performance, e.g. uptime and capacity
  • Implement automation efficiency's to reduce manual interventions (scripting experience essential)
  • Change management and participate in scheduled maintenance including disaster recovery exercises

Skills and Experience required

  • VMware vSphere
  • Linux and/or Windows systems administration within a large complex environment
  • CentOS or Ubuntu
  • including scripting
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring including logging and alerting tools
  • MQ or Mulesoft experience desirable
