Behaviour & Special Needs Assistant - Merton, London

We are currently working with multiple schools and SEN settings in the Merton area who are searching for multiple Behaviour & Special Needs Assistants for the summer term 2025 & September 2025!

As a Behaviour & Special Needs Assistant, you should show a real passion for supporting learners and young adults with various learning, communication, social and behaviour needs. You will be able to demonstrate a level of resilience in work, be able to think on your feet and act/respond quickly to challenging behaviour, but most importantly be able to build meaningful and nurturing relationships with the students.

You will be able to demonstrate and implement behaviour management techniques both inside the classroom and around the educational setting, to help promote learner growth and development throughout their school day within a safe and structure learning environment.

The position requires you to be experienced in supporting pupils and young adults with varying levels of needs, abilities, behaviours and communication levels too!

As a Behaviour & Special Needs Assistant, you are responsible to work alongside teachers, learning support staff, health care professionals, behaviour teams and other classroom staff in order to support the learners and young adults in a constructive and controlled learning environment, both inside the classroom and around the setting.

The Role:

· Creating a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment for the learners and young adults involved.

· Working within a supportive staff grouping where everyone follows the same standards and ethos.

· Working on a 1:1 basis, across small groups and around the school setting supporting a range of learners of different needs and age groups.

Requirements:

· A DBS on the update service (We can advise on this) (Essential)

· Experience working with SEMH/SEN/Complex Needs students with challenging behaviour.

A strong knowledge in these needs can also be beneifical incluin ASD, ADHD, Mental Health and various physical disabilities.

· Team Teach Certificate (Within the last 2 years) (Ideal). - Veritas Education do offer additional training for successful candidates.
