Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a Behaviour Support Mentor to join this excellent secondary school in Haringey, North London and work within their special unit supporting students who are finding mainstream education difficult. This is a full time, starting ASAP.
The School:
A mixed 11-16 comprehensive school in Wood Green, north London, serving a truly multi-cultural community, where every student is valued and treated as an individual.
It is a school where young people's talents and abilities are nurtured and where they can develop their ambitions. Our aim is that all students should leave the school as highly qualified, confident and articulate young adults.
The school is equipped with an internal exclusion unit which caters for students who have been temporarily excluded from mainstream lessons. Students are taught and supported in small groups and on a 1 to 1 basis and a plan is set for students re-integrating back in to mainstream school life.
The role:
- Full time, long term position
- Supporting studentswho are out of mainstream lessons
- De-escalate situations and work cooperatively with staff
- Deliver restorative and reflective provision for 11-16 year olds
- Liaising with teachers, the pastoral team and the behaviour support team
- Implement programmes to prevent recurrence of negative behaviour
- Work closely with families, carers and external agencies
As a Teaching Assistant you will need:
- Experience of supporting children and young people with behaviour needs
- To be resilient, have a positive mindset, and enjoy a challenge!
- GCSE's in English and Maths
- Must have legal right to work in the UK
