Are you calm under pressure, emotionally attuned, and ready to make a real difference in a young person's life? We are seeking a full-time 1:1 mentor to support a bright, sensitive female student with multiple learning and developmental needs at a welcoming school in Fairlop (London Borough of Redbridge).
This is a term-time only position beginning in September 2025, ideal for someone who is patient, organised, and confident communicating with families and professionals alike.
About the StudentThe student requires structured, thoughtful support throughout the school day. She works with an external tutor for up to three hours daily and benefits from a consistent 1:1 adult who can guide her through routines, transitions, and learning in and out of class.

She can sometimes misinterpret social cues or express things in a way that doesn't reflect her intent - so it's essential that the person in this role is empathetic, reflective, and not easily thrown off by misunderstandings.
What You'll Do-
Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the day

Help the student navigate emotional, sensory, and social challenges

Collaborate with an in-school tutor and help bridge her learning between sessions

Be the key contact for day-to-day communication with her family

Write professional, well-structured emails and updates for staff and external professionals

Liaise with a wider support network including therapists, specialists, and SEN services

Foster independence while maintaining clear boundaries and consistency

Someone with a degree (essential)

Fully available Monday to Friday from September 2025 during school hours

Ideally, has prior experience working with neurodivergent or developmentally delayed students

Excellent at communicating both in writing and in person

Emotionally grounded, reliable, and flexible in your approach

Comfortable being proactive and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
