Learning Support Assistant - Early Years (SEN)

A warm and inclusive mainstream primary school in Brockley is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their Early Years team, providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a full-time position, available for an immediate start as well as for September.

The role will involve supporting a child or group of children with additional needs, which may include developmental delay, communication difficulties, autism, or medical needs. Willingness and confidence to assist with personal care is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing tailored support to pupils with SEN in Early Years

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support plans

  • Supporting learning through structured play, routine, and sensory activities

  • Helping to develop social, communication, and independence skills

  • Assisting with personal care needs where required (e.g. toileting, changing)

  • Promoting a nurturing, inclusive and safe environment for all children

The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have experience working with young children and/or those with SEN

  • Be caring, patient, and adaptable with a proactive attitude

  • Understand the developmental needs of Early Years children

  • Be comfortable and confident providing personal care when necessary

  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to apply for one
