A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Lewisham is seeking a committed and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team immediately. This is a full-time, long-term role lasting until the end of the academic year, with the potential for future opportunities.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing one-to-one and small group support both in and out of the classroom. Your role will be crucial in helping students access the curriculum, develop confidence, and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Support students with SEND in mainstream classroom settings

  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting materials to meet individual needs

  • Provide tailored support for students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and the SENCO

  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive learning habits

  • Encourage independence and self-esteem in learners

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals

Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children in a school or child-focused setting is essential

  • Experience supporting students with SEND is required

  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • A patient, proactive, and empathetic approach to supporting students
