The college caters for students aged 16-21 with a variety of needs including profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), communication and behavioural difficulties, and specific medical needs. The college's cirriculum is centred around preparing the students for adulthood, with a large proportion of their learning taking place out in the community.

Role and Responsibilities: As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting teachers in delivering tailored educational programs and activities.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with PMLD, communication and behavioural difficulties, and medical needs.
  • Implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs).
  • Supporting students with daily living skills, personal care, and mobility as needed.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and reporting to the relevant staff members.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities and conditions such as PMLD, autism, and behaviours of concern.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN (desirable but not essential).
