An inclusive and supportive secondary SEN school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team for an immediate start. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a small, well-resourced specialist unit supporting between 6-12 students with a range of complex learning needs.

Role Overview:You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to deliver high-quality, individualised support to students with a variety of needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and moderate to severe learning challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to students within a specialist SEN unit.

  • Use communication tools such as PECS and Makaton to aid student engagement.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Support students' emotional, social, and behavioural development.

  • Ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment in line with safeguarding policies.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs, particularly in a secondary school environment.

  • Proficiency with PECS and Makaton.

  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training prior to start).

  • Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and a patient, supportive approach.

  • Must be available to start immediately and commit to a full-time role.
