Job Description:

A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Greenwich is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate to complex learning needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential in a supportive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs.

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.

  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a structured and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Support students with social, emotional, and communication needs, both in and out of the classroom.

  • Liaise with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a school or with young people with SEN.

  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to learning support.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

  • Knowledge of EHCPs, autism strategies, and sensory support (desirable).

  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
