Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Sanza are working in partnership with a small primary school in Kennington, Southwark who are seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support a sweet child in Early Years with down syndrome. This role is perfect for anyone who is passionate about inclusive education, has experience working with children with SEN and has a genuine desire to support the little learner who is at the start of their school journey.

Role details:

  • Hours: 8am- 12pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
  • Pay: 52 per shift
  • Location: Kennington, Southwark
  • Nearest Station: Kennington - Northern Line /Excellent bus links

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a pupil in Early Years with Down syndrome
  • Encourage active participation in group activities and play
  • Support and build confidence with positive peer interactions and help to facilitate friendships
  • Assist with personal care in a supportive manner
  • Working closely with the early years class teachers

The successful candidate will:

  • Have prior experience supporting children with special educational needs
  • Have a calm, patient and empathetic approach with a commitment to making a positive impact
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and a proactive, engaging approach
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to provide tailored support to the little learner
  • Be a caring and reliable individual who thrives in a supportive school setting
