SEN Teaching Assistant - Hackney Primary School

Salary: 85 - 120 per day (depending on experience)
A welcoming and inclusive two-form entry primary school in Hackney is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and contribute to a nurturing and ambitious school environment.
The Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs. The role may involve one-to-one support, small group work, or general classroom assistance across EYFS, KS1 or KS2, depending on experience and the needs of the school.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting children with a variety of SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
- Delivering interventions and differentiated support to help pupils access the curriculum
- Promoting an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
- Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress to the SENCO and class teacher
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
