Are you a passionate and proactive individual with a hands-on approach to supporting children with Special Educational Needs? Remedy Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic special school in Tower Hamlets. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with a small, specialized Year 5 class.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting a sensory-focused Key Stage 2 class. The students in this class are mostly non-verbal and require a very hands-on and energetic approach to their learning and development. You will be instrumental in creating a stimulating and supportive environment, assisting with sensory activities, and helping pupils engage with the curriculum in a way that meets their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on, one-to-one and small-group support to students with complex SEN.

  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging sensory-based activities.

  • Help create a positive and energetic learning atmosphere.

  • Support students with their personal care needs as required.

  • Contribute to the development of tailored learning plans and monitor pupil progress.

  • Uphold the school's commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

What we're looking for:

Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, ideally in a school or similar setting.

  • A proactive, energetic, and highly hands-on approach.

  • Experience in a special school environment is a plus, but not essential.

  • A patient, compassionate, and eager-to-learn attitude.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A current DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).

The School Offers:

  • A supportive and collaborative staff team.

  • A focus on professional development and training.

  • The chance to make a tangible and positive impact on the lives of incredible students.
