Are you a proactive and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to make a substantial difference? This is an excellent chance to join a primary school, officially rated as 'Good', located within the Southwark borough.

You will be working as a SEN Teaching Assistant within a mainstream setting, offering essential 1:1 support to a specific pupil with special educational needs. This is an ongoing, long-term placement with a strong likelihood of transitioning into a permanent position.

At Long Term Futures, we are partnering with a fantastic primary school in Southwark that demonstrates a deep dedication to nurturing the growth of every child, particularly those with diverse learning needs.

You will work closely with the class teachers, the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other support professionals, contributing to a supportive and accessible curriculum that empowers all students to realise their full capabilities.



Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored support aligned with a specific pupil's individual SEN, which may include challenges related to communication, learning, or social interaction.

  • Assist in personalised learning activities, adapting educational resources, and fostering the development of independence and key life skills.

  • Implement constructive communication and effective positive behaviour support strategies.

  • Collaborate proactively with the class teacher and any external specialists involved in the pupil's care.



Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting primary-aged children with specific or complex needs.

  • A resilient, patient, and flexible approach to meeting the evolving needs of an individual pupil.

  • A comprehensive knowledge of various SEN diagnoses and successful support techniques.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with the pupil, school staff, and parents/carers.
