Are you experienced in supporting children with additional and complex needs?

Veritas Education is currently working with a number of primary and specialist schools across Hackney who are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams. We are seeking individuals who are confident in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including behavioural and emotional difficulties.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. This may involve one-to-one or small group work with children who present with needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex learning profiles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with SEN
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development
  • Help implement EHCPs and learning interventions
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Collaborate with staff and families to support pupil progress and well-being
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN and/or behavioural challenges (essential)
  • Confident managing behaviour and working in high-need settings
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and safeguarding practices
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, CACHE, or equivalent) desirable
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
