Join a Warm, Supportive Primary School in Stoke Newington

Veritas Education is working with a well-regarded one-form entry primary school in Stoke Newington that is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time role, ideally suited to someone with strong behavioural management skills and experience working with children who have additional and complex needs.

About the Role

  • 1:1 support for a pupil with behavioural and emotional needs
  • Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies
  • Supporting emotional regulation and engagement in class activities
  • Contributing to a consistent and structured environment for learning
  • Promoting positive behaviour and social development

This role is ideal for someone who is calm, consistent, and confident in de-escalation techniques, with a strong understanding of how to support children who present with challenging behaviours.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, especially SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a patient, resilient attitude
  • Comfortable working 1:1 with a pupil who may need close support throughout the school day
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • A proactive and flexible team player
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
