Are you a patient, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs?

About the Role

Long Term Futures is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Haringey, N15, to recruit a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant. This rewarding role will involve providing one-on-one support to a pupil with autism, alongside some small group instruction and general classroom duties.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the child's academic progress, social development, and emotional regulation. You'll help implement clear behaviour management strategies, contribute to lesson planning, and assist with regular progress monitoring to ensure the pupil thrives both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-on-one support and structured small group instruction.
  • Support the pupil with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Adapt learning resources and contribute to lesson planning.
  • Maintain clear records and assist in progress monitoring.
  • Encourage independence, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and external agencies when required.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with ASD in a primary school setting.
  • Understanding of strategies for behaviour management and emotional support.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Familiarity with progress monitoring and working with SEN frameworks.
  • A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach to learning support.
