The Role

A mainstream primary school in Kilburn is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-aged pupil with complex and severe special educational needs. This full-time position is available for an immediate start and offers long-term potential for the right candidate. The pupil presents with significant communication and sensory processing challenges, alongside highly challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, working closely with the SENCO and external professionals to implement effective behaviour strategies and support plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver consistent 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with severe SEN

  • Implement and adapt behaviour management strategies

  • Collaborate with the SENCO and external specialists to meet the child’s needs

  • Promote emotional regulation and engagement in learning

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience supporting children with severe SEN, ideally in EYFS or KS1

  • Strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience

  • Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation training (desirable)

  • DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
