About the Behaviour Mentor Role

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children who need extra support? We are looking for a caring, resilient, and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in South East London. You'll be working closely with children who experience behavioural and emotional challenges, helping them access learning and develop the confidence they need to thrive in school and beyond.

This is a long-term full-time role beginning in September 2025, with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff for the right person.

Key Responsibilities of the Behaviour Mentor
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties

  • Implementing personalised support plans and behaviour strategies

  • Collaborating with the SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals

  • Encouraging positive peer interactions and social engagement

  • Helping pupils manage transitions and maintain focus during lessons

  • Acting as a positive role model and building strong, trusting relationships

  • Supporting daily routines, ensuring pupil wellbeing and safeguarding at all times

What We're Looking for in a Behaviour Mentor
  • Experience working with children with SEND or behavioural challenges (school or care-based)

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to managing behaviour

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A solid understanding of safeguarding and school protocols

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
