An inclusive and supportive secondary SEN school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team for an immediate start. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a small, well-resourced specialist unit supporting between 6-12 students with a range of complex learning needs.
Role Overview:
You will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to deliver high-quality, individualised support to students with a variety of needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and moderate to severe learning challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 and group support to students within a specialist SEN unit.
Use communication tools such as PECS and Makaton to aid student engagement.
Contribute to the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Support students' emotional, social, and behavioural development.
Ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment in line with safeguarding policies.
Essential Requirements:
Experience supporting students with special educational needs, particularly in a secondary school environment.
Proficiency with PECS and Makaton.
Up-to-date Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training prior to start).
Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and a patient, supportive approach.
Must be available to start immediately and commit to a full-time role.
