Salary: 100 - 120 per day (depending on experience)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

About the Role:
We are recruiting a committed and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to work in a forward-thinking Secondary SEN School in Lewisham. The school caters for students aged 11-19 with a range of special educational needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in SEN education who is passionate about making a lasting difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with a variety of needs in class and through individualised interventions.
Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management tailored to SEN students.
Help implement strategies outlined in EHCPs to support learning and behaviour.
Use specialist resources such as visual supports, Makaton, or PECS (training provided if necessary).
Support students with emotional regulation, life skills, and transition preparation for adulthood.
Provide personal care if required in a respectful and dignified manner.
Candidate Requirements:
Recent experience in a secondary school setting is essential.
Experience working with young people with special educational needs, particularly autism, learning difficulties, or SEMH.
Confident in managing behaviour in a supportive and therapeutic manner.
Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
A calm, patient, and resilient personality.
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
