About the school:
This is a specialist SEN school that provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties. The school places a strong focus on communication, life skills, and personalised learning, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to thrive both academically and socially.

About the role:
The SEN Class Teacher will be responsible for a class of 7 pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to a wide range of abilities, supported by teaching assistants. The role involves creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment, implementing EHCP targets, and working closely with therapists, families, and colleagues. This is a fixed term role with the possibility to be extended.

We're looking for a dedicated candidate to:

  • Plan and deliver creative and differentiated lessons for pupils with SLD
  • Lead and manage support staff effectively in class
  • Support pupils' communication, social, and independence skills
  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching to individual needs
  • Collaborate with parents and multi-agency professionals

Requirements - The ideal candidate would have:

  • QTS with experience teaching pupils with SEN, ideally Severe Learning Difficulties
  • Knowledge of strategies and approaches for supporting complex needs
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, resilient, and creative approach to teaching
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
