This large academy based in the heart of Greenwich is currently looking to recruit a SEND Teacher to join their team from October 2025.

We have an exciting long-term opportunity for a SEND Teacher to join a fantastic team in Greenwich.

The school is committed to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where students with SEN can reach their full potential. We are seeking a dedicated and talented mainstream or SEN Teacher to join their team, providing exceptional education and support to their students in Greenwich.

As a SEND Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a significant and lasting impact on the lives of students with SEND. Your expertise, guidance, and support will empower them to overcome challenges, achieve their educational goals, and build a brighter future. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized education plans, implement tailored strategies, and ensure that every student's unique needs are met.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Play an active role in the development of the curriculum and pedagogy, to ensure students with SEND achieve, irrespective of their individual circumstances.
  • Work with others within the SEND department to monitor the provision mapping of SEND pupils, inputting and updating pupils' provision, using the provision map software.
  • Liaise with parents, teachers and external agencies to monitor the progress and provision of SEND pupils.
  • Contribute to the assessment and identification of the special needs of pupils not yet on the Special Needs register.
  • Work collaboratively with mainstream teachers, to develop in them the ability to support pupils with SEND, and to produce appropriately differentiated tasks for pupils with SEND.
  • Work with other professionals to develop and review individual education plans (IEPs) for pupils, involving pupils, parents/carers in the process wherever possible.
  • To oversee the assessment and implementation of Exam Access Arrangements, as per JQC guidelines.
  • To assess the needs of pupils with potential Special Educational Needs, as directed by the SENCO.
  • Support in the application of Educational Health Care Plans and facilitate the Annual Reviews of pupils with EHC plans.

  • Support staff training to meet the needs of the students in the mainstream setting.
  • To ensure the Academy's transition plans are implemented effectively for pupils with SEND at all key stages.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with SEN.
  • A strong understanding of different SEN needs and effective teaching strategies.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
