Location: Wimbledon

Salary: £30k + performance related bonuses

Hours: 7am-4:40pm Monday - Friday. Optional overtime on weekends

We are recruiting a Sales Assistant on behalf of a builders merchant specialising in high-quality plumbing and heating supplies. Offering expert advice, competitive pricing, and excellent customer service to trade professionals and domestic customers alike.

Overview

We are seeking a motivated Sales Assistant with plumbing and heating merchant experience to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales within the plumbing and heating sector and a proven ability to attract new customers, retain existing clients, and drive revenue through upselling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively engage with existing and potential customers, both in-store and over the phone.

  • Drive new business by identifying and pursuing new customer opportunities.

  • Build strong relationships with trade customers, offering knowledgeable advice and tailored product recommendations.

  • Maximize sales through effective upselling and cross-selling of relevant products.

  • Maintain excellent product knowledge, particularly in plumbing and heating ranges.

  • Process sales orders accurately and efficiently using internal systems.

  • Work collaboratively with the warehouse and delivery teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience working in a plumbing and heating merchant is essential.

  • Strong sales experience with a proactive, customer-focused attitude.

  • Proven track record of bringing in new business and growing existing accounts.

  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Highly organized with good attention to detail.

  • A team player with a hands-on approach and a can-do attitude.

  • Familiarity with common trade products and brands within plumbing and heating.

  • Basic computer literacy (experience with point-of-sale systems advantageous).
