Trade Counter Sales Assistant

Location: Kennington, SE11 4BT

Salary: £31,000 - £33,000

Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm, Alternate Saturdays 7:30am - 3:00pm

This well-established, family-owned builders’ merchant looking for a friendly and knowledgeable Trade Counter Sales Assistant to provide excellent customer service and ensure the smooth running of our busy trade counter.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a warm, professional welcome to all customers, offering knowledgeable advice and assistance.
  • Manage in-store deliveries, both incoming and outgoing.
  • Handle telephone enquiries promptly and communicate effectively with both customers and team members.
  • Process customer orders and assist with stock replenishment.
  • Respond positively and efficiently to customer requirements.
  • Support periodic stock counts as needed.
  • Picking for deliveries and online orders.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in delivering exceptional customer service in the construction/builders merchant industry.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Solid knowledge of hardware products and building materials would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills with a confident, customer-first approach.
  • A team player who thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage tasks efficiently and remain motivated under pressure.
