Role Overview:
As a Custody Healthcare Practitioner, you'll be at the forefront of delivering comprehensive medical care within police custody suites. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Clinical Assessments: Conduct thorough health evaluations of detainees, identifying any immediate medical needs or vulnerabilities.
  • Mental Health Support: Manage and support individuals experiencing mental health crises, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place.
  • Emergency Response: Provide prompt medical attention during emergencies, utilizing your expertise to stabilize and manage acute situations.
  • Forensic Procedures: Collect and document forensic samples in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with custody officers, legal representatives, and external healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to detainee care.
Essential Requirements:
  • Professional Registration: Registered Nurse (Adult or Mental Health) or Paramedic with current NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, with demonstrable experience working within a police custody environment.
