- Deliver dynamic and engaging lessons across English programmes, including GCSE and Functional Skills.
- Develop comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and high-quality teaching resources.
- Use a variety of assessment methods (formative and summative) to monitor student progress and set clear targets for improvement.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback, both verbal and written.
- Incorporate IT and e-learning tools to enhance curriculum delivery.
- Ensure students engage with all elements of their study programmes, including English, maths, and work experience.
- Lead and contribute to student inductions and ensure course handbooks and materials are up to date.
- Conduct regular academic reviews and refer students to appropriate support services when needed.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, attendance, and engagement.
- Prepare students for progression into further education, training, or employment.
- Participate in open events and promotional activities to attract new learners.
- Provide clear, accurate information to prospective students and their families.
- Support interviews and contribute to the admissions process.
- Assist in the development of marketing content and course information materials.
- Take a lead on specific courses as directed by line managers.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to departmental planning and improvement.
- Complete all necessary administrative tasks including registers, reports, and progress records.
- Engage in curriculum development and course evaluation activities.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, including feedback collection and self-assessment reporting.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of subject matter and teaching practice.
- Support new and existing staff through mentoring and collaborative working.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all learning environments.
- Comply with all college policies, including Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and GDPR.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and legislation.

- A degree in English or a closely related subject.
- A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- Experience delivering GCSE and/or Functional Skills English.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, and digital literacy skills.
- A commitment to inclusive education and student success.
- Experience within the further education or post-16 education sector.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
