This Copy Editor opportunity is positioned in a leading law firm and will be responsible for transforming legal marketing materials into dynamic, strategic, and concise brand message by improving clarity, removing typos, fact-checking, maintaining consistency, and following a style standard.

This is a critical role, working with departments and stakeholders to design and refine brand language for video, print, and internet. As a member of the content team, reporting to the Marketing Director, you will have the opportunity to develop copy for high-priority projects and influence business branding and style.

Responsibilities:

  • Copy Editing & Proofreading: Meticulously copy edit and proofread Cooley's marketing materials, including external messaging, internal communications, and client-focused projects, ensuring impeccable grammar, style, tone, and brand consistency.
  • Message Development: Collaborate with marketing department colleagues and firmwide stakeholders to develop fresh, impactful marketing messages that resonate with our target audiences.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Forge strong working relationships with our design, multimedia, digital marketing, communications, and operations teams to ensure seamless workflows and exceptional work product.
  • Style Guide & Training: Contribute to the evolution of the style guide, conduct training sessions to reinforce brand voice and style, and lead special projects.
  • Feedback & Coaching: Provide constructive feedback to marketing department colleagues to uphold the style and brand, implementing innovative coaching methods to enhance writing, style, and voice.
  • Industry Expertise: Continuously expand your knowledge of the legal industry and stay informed about current copywriting trends across various sectors.

The successful candidate for this role will have proven experience in copywriting and proofreading within a law firm.
