Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support
Location: Loughborough area (LE12)
Salary: 100 - 105 per day
Contract: Long term to permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:30 (Term time only)
Start Date: January 2026
About the Role
We are supporting a specialist all-through SEMH provision in the Shepshed area that works with pupils aged 5 to 16. The school offers a calm, structured and nurturing environment where pupils receive personalised support to help them settle, feel secure and make progress both emotionally and academically.
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is committed to helping young people build confidence, manage their emotions and engage positively in school life. This is a rewarding full-time role with excellent support from experienced staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional resilience and self-regulation
- Support pupils with routines, transitions and engagement in lessons
- Assist teachers in delivering a flexible, individualised curriculum
- Communicate effectively with staff to help monitor progress and adapt support
Who We're Looking For
- Experience supporting young people, particularly in SEMH, SEN, youth work or care
- Confident, patient and calm when working with pupils who may struggle to regulate their emotions
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
- Applicants with sports, outdoor activity or mentoring backgrounds are very welcome
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
