Location: Southfield Road, Loughborough, LE11 2TU
Start Date: ASAP                                               
Contract Duration: 2+ Month
Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week
Pay Rate: £ 45.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the Benefits teams, ensuring performance targets are met.

  • Manage and report team performance, including mandatory statistical returns.

  • Oversee annual billing for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction Scheme.

  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and best practices.

  • Handle complex queries and complaints from various stakeholders.

  • Keep staff updated on changes in regulations and provide necessary training.

  • Analyze data to identify training needs and support staff development.

  • Represent the Council at appeal hearings.

  • Promote a culture of fraud and error prevention.

  • Support team members in decision-making on complex cases.

  • Provide expert advice on Local Authority benefits to internal and external parties.

  • Produce reports on Benefits matters for senior management and committees.

  • Identify and implement improvement projects to enhance service delivery.

  • Stay updated with new technology to improve service offerings.

  • Maintain expert knowledge of Benefits systems.

  • Coach and mentor team members, conduct performance reviews, and identify training needs.

  • Ensure secure management of information and report any breaches.

  • Undertake additional duties as required.

Person Specifications
Must Have

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.

  • Experience in managing team performance and reporting.

  • Knowledge of regulations and policies related to Benefits services.

  • Ability to handle complex queries and complaints.

  • Experience in providing training and development support.

  • Strong analytical skills for data analysis.

  • Experience in report writing and presenting to senior management.

  • Ability to manage information securely.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with new technologies to enhance service delivery.

  • Previous experience in a Local Authority benefits environment.

  • Experience with Tribunal Service appeal hearings.
