Lancaster Academy is a vibrant, diverse and successful 11-16 academy in Leicester with around 1000 students on roll. The school was previously an all-boys school, before becoming co-educational in August 2018. Lancaster The school has been on a journey of significant improvement in recent years with a ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection in 2024. While the school community were delighted with that recognition of their collective hard work and commitment, they have used it as a platform for further improvement. With the planned retirement of the current Principal at the end of this academic year, the Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional leader to the role of Principal who will recognise the many opportunities that are in front of the school and will be motivated to lead it to greater success.
Lancaster Academy plays a unique role in the local area, attracting learners from across Leicester City. Many families arrive in Leicester City without a school place and the school supports the Local Authority with this challenge. As a result, it is not unusual across an academic year for up to 300 learners to arrive outside of the normal admissions times. The school is also proud to serve its local community and increasingly is becoming the school of choice for the students at primary schools in the immediate vicinity.
The school is committed to meeting the needs of the mobile and diverse community it serves. The tailored curriculum has an emphasis on readiness for work and life beyond school by broadening horizons, cultivating ambition, building character and developing a strong work ethic. In short, at Lancaster Academy, we work to educate, support and inspire.
The school is part of Learning without Limits Multi Academy Trust (LwLAT). The Trust was established in 2016 to serve the communities of Leicester City and the surrounding areas. Since then, LwLAT has grown to 5 schools in Leicester and Leicestershire with 3 additional affiliate schools in the Coventry area. These 8 schools cover both primary and secondary phases, working closely with one another and benefiting greatly from these relationships. LwLAT are dedicated to providing staff with a range of opportunities that develop their own skills which allow them to thrive in the education setting. As Principal you would not only benefit from the support of experienced and skilled colleagues but will also be a key part of the wider success of the Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior leader with a proven track record of impact in a secondary setting. You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious, forward-thinking Academy Trust. The successful candidate must be passionate about improving students’ life chances through the provision of the highest quality of education and committed to achieving excellent results for the students. You must have a strong work ethic, high expectations of yourself and others and have the ability to lead staff and students in realising those expectations.
