Turner Lovell is partnering with a highly successful electrical power engineering services company to source an LV Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Co. Louth. This business has a track record in delivering specialist switchgear, transmission equipment, and renewables projects across Ireland, the UK, and several countries in Europe.
This individual will coordinate with the client; performing analysis of all design documentation and identification of any scope gaps,; developing the electrical plans and specifications for the projects; and developing the project scope, budget and providing technical submittal.
In this role, you will:
- Analyse customer's Single Line Diagram (SLD), Specification, BOM, Site Layout, Purchase Order, and other documents of the low-voltage distribution system, switchboards (MDB / SDB) and DC systems
- Perform electrical calculations for electrical systems including load calculation, maximum predicted loading of an installation, Arc Flash and Short Circuit, Busbar sizing, busbar trucking, form of separation, degree of protection Busbars compartments, clearance and creepage distances
- Prepare the detailed discrimination study report
- Provide the smallest allowable cross-sectional area of circuit conductors as per IEC 60364
- Provide cable schedule and specification
- Prepare cable route, trench, and ladder layout and calculation
- Perform design tasks including lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, and security systems
- Prepare and modify equipment detail specifications
- Generate take off lists and requisitions for material ordering.
- Providing all detailed drawing based on the IEC, UL & CSA standard. Carry out design work to create detailed drawings for design including physical layouts and control/protection schematics as required by the customer or by the internal operations team.
- Manage submittals through the approvals process, track procurement and delivery of electrical equipment and complete the receipt verification process once the equipment is delivered.
To be considered, you should have experience in designing low-voltage distribution system, switchboards (MDB / SDB) and DC systems. You should have experience with electrical design software Eplan and Etap; with AutoCAD; and a proficiency with electrical design software including Siemens SIMARIS, Schneider EcoStruxure, ABB e-Design. You should have an Industry code understanding and familiarity with IEC standards including IEC 60364, IEC 61439, IEC 61140, 60479 series and IEC 61201.
