A fantastic opportunity has become available for a proactive and organised Stores Assistant to join a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment. This is a key role ensuring smooth material flow and stock accuracy throughout production areas, while supporting overall efficiency and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Stores Assistant, your main focus will be supporting production cells by ensuring timely delivery of materials, accurate inventory control, and safe handling of goods. Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Replenishing materials at Point of Use (POU) areas using kanban and bin systems.
- Picking and kitting work orders and delivering them to the correct locations.
- Receiving, booking in, storing, and dispatching materials accurately and efficiently.
- Performing stock movements and daily cycle counting to maintain inventory accuracy above 98%.
- Supporting lean initiatives including 5S, FIFO, and continuous improvement activities.
- Assisting in the upkeep and development of supply chain systems and responding to replenishment signals.
- Preparing, packing, and arranging collections for deliveries and supplier shipments.
- Supporting the warehouse team with general housekeeping and safe handling practices.

Essential Skills & Experience:
To be successful in the Stores Assistant role, you will need:
- Previous experience in a Stores or Materials Handling role.
- Strong physical fitness, with the ability to carry out manual handling duties.
- Basic computer literacy – Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Experience using ERP systems for inventory transactions.
- A clear understanding of safe working and manual handling procedures.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a fast-paced, pressure-driven team environment.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles (5S, kanban, etc.).
- Forklift license is an advantage.
- Experience with cutting equipment or knowledge of export procedures is beneficial.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
