Head of Microbiology

SRG is working with a leading sterile pharmaceutical company who has become a leader in specials with an ever-expanding footprint, supplying hard-to-source product to patients who need them.

They are now looking for a Head of Microbiology to oversee all microbiological operations at their aseptic manufacturing site in Bedfordshire. As the head of Microbiology, you will be responsible for ensuring the sterility, safety and compliance of products, leading the microbiological testing teams and developing contamination control & compliance strategies for sterile medicines manufacturing.

The Role:

As the head of manufacturing you will be leading, mentoring & developing the Microbiology team - driving continuous improvement and a culture of excellence. Key duties will include:

  • Oversight of all microbiological operations; Testing, Identification, environmental monitoring.
  • Monitor & review all testing protocols to ensure the integrity & sterility of products.
  • Oversee the validation of all aseptic processes.
  • Be the point of escalation for any OOS / Deviations and lead investigations relating to microbiological contamination.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, supporting manufacturing processes, product development, validation studies and customer audits.

Required:

  • A degree or higher qualification/ equivalent experience in microbiology or a relevant similar field.
  • Proven experience of leadership in a GMP environment.
  • Strong knowledge and experience overseeing quality management systems, such as GMP, HACCP, CATO, and ISO.
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to microbiology.
  • Proficient in using microbiological testing equipment and software.
