The Role

As a 5G Systems Engineer, youll be responsible for the end-to-end system definition and performance analysis of advanced satellite payloads and their supporting ground infrastructure. Your focus will include mobile broadband, machine-to-machine applications, and on-board processing solutions aligned with 5G standards. Youll also help shape international standardisation efforts through 3GPP and other key forums.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define system-level requirements and architecture for 5G NTN payloads
  • Conduct design trade-offs, performance analysis, and CONOPS development
  • Specify and assess onboard processor requirements and technologies
  • Contribute to risk mitigation and technology maturation strategies
  • Engage with 3GPP and other standards bodies (ORAN, Small Cell Forum)
  • Support proposal development and technical solution presentations
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and partners on system solutions

What Youll Bring

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field (Masters/PhD preferred)
  • 5+ years experience in communications system engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of 5G NR, NB-IoT, and 5G core network architectures
  • Familiarity with payload design, phased arrays, and on-board processing
  • Experience with standards engagement (3GPP, ORAN) highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Background working with government or space agencies (e.g. ESA) is a plus
