We Build Recruitment are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our client, a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor based near Luton.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of groundworks packages across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic and growing company, delivering high-quality services from enabling works through to substructure and external works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of groundwork projects from inception to completion
  • Prepare, submit and negotiate interim valuations, final accounts, and variations
  • Conduct cost planning and estimation throughout project lifecycle
  • Monitor project budgets, reporting on profit/loss and identifying areas for cost saving
  • Evaluate subcontractor quotations and manage procurement process
  • Prepare and issue subcontractor orders, ensuring alignment with project scope and budget
  • Ensure compliance with contractual conditions and risk management procedures
  • Liaise with clients, site teams, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and cost control
  • Attend site visits and progress meetings as required

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks or civil engineering sectors
  • Strong understanding of groundwork operations including earthworks, drainage, foundations, roads and external works
  • Relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel, project costing software, and other relevant tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • Full UK driving licence
